Louise Wilkinson has worked in the field of education for over 35 years with the bulk of them while living in Townsville. Louise has been able to span all three levels of education – tertiary through her current studies at James Cook University; secondary through 22 years of experience working in state secondary schools; and, most recently, primary as principal of Heatley SS. Louise has a passion for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education and in particular she has established a strong network of colleagues and friends who themselves are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in a variety of professional fields/vocations or bring a wealth of life experiences and reside in the local community of Townsville and the greater Northern Region. Louise also has close personal connections with other colleagues and friends who work within the Catholic Education Office and local catholic schools as well as those who work within some of Townsville’s independent schools. Louise is honoured to be a member of the Steering Committee for the Mentally Healthy City Townsville project.
