Free Mental Health and Well-being training for small business
The Townsville business sector has suffered a $4.9 million dollar blow due to the impact of COVID-19. Many of these businesses are small businesses.
The TEL Business Impact Survey highlights the huge impact on the mental health and well-being of local small business owners, frontline managers, and supervisors with work-related stress estimated to affect around 32% of Australians. (WorkSafe Queensland)
Mentally Healthy City Townsville’s (MHCT) ambition to achieve “a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.” (WHO | Mental Health)
To ensure that Small Businesses in the Townsville region have the knowledge, confidence, and skills to identify, assess and manage the well-being risks in their workplaces and to ensure that their workplace promotes mental health and well-being, MHCT is offering the following free training between August and December 2021.
- 4 x Mentally Healthy Workplace half-day workshops
- 4 x Mental Health First Aid 2-day workshops
- 4 x Community Response to Eliminating Suicide (CORES) half-day workshops.

Build resilience and wellbeing with Mentally Healthy City Townsville. Join in a series of free outdoor exercise classes held at Mercure Hotel, Townsville from September to December 2021.
Whether you’re after a low impact workout to calm your mind and relax body after a busy day or something high-energy to help you build strength and stamina. There is something for everyone.
Resilience & Fitness: 6:30am - 7:15am, Monday - Friday
Master your mental toughness and thrive with our specialised resilience fitness class. This workout will help you build strength and stamina to get through your day, no matter what you’re faced with. Resilience & Fitness is suitable for everyone. The workout can be easily modified to suit your needs.
"Low Flow" for relaxation: 5:30pm - 6:15pm, Monday - Friday
"Low Flow" for relaxation is a fun, low impact workout suitable for anyone who wants to de-stress and boost their mood. This workout is easy and gentle on your joints and tendons. Low Flow is suitable for everyone.
All classes are guided by a fully qualified personal trainer.
